Ciberespacio is a multimedia/Educational GIS SME, specialised in the use of the new technologies applied to Education and the cultural heritage. Since 1990 the company has developed projects under different European programs such as Pacte, Leader, Recite, Raphael, and IST FP5. These have been based on the use of the IT as sustainable tools for preserving the heritage. The company has developed IT- Web work in Finland, Portugal, Czech Republic and Uruguay.
In 1994 it established one of the first Internet Server Providers in Galicia (Spain), dedicated to the cultural heritage community. Currently the company is running training courses in IT applications in the field of Cultural Heritage and Education within the European Union. These courses are orientated toward the Museums and School Libraries fields.
The company is already developing tests in both the area of GPS-GIS heritage services and working with children www.craescuela.net. The information gained through these activities has provided a valuable resource for developing the objectives of this eMapps.com, based on user needs. Ciberespacio was the Technical Co-ordinator of CHIMER (FP5), a seminal forerunner of the eMapps.com proposal.
Ciberespacio has participated in the following European projects
- Developed and ran a two year curriculum for a Workshop on new technologies in the Municipality of Madrid. European Social Fund. 1990-1992
- Developed, directed and produced for the National Geographic Institute: 1994-1996 GEOIDE: your land in a map. Multimedia travelling gave access to the history of cartography and how to read a map for school children and citizens.
- Developed, directed and produced Galician Cultural Heritage (Galician Govern) 1993: The 8 ways of Santiago de Compostela: a travelling show for promoting the Way of Santiago.
- Project Coordinator Developed the technical side of the BLEN network Raphael DGX (997-1999), creating the following web sites:
