Primary School Franc Rozman Stane, Maribor, Slovenia

Logo of Primary School Franc Rozman Stane, Maribor

The primary school Franc Rozman Stane is situated at the edge of the centre of Maribor . It is located near the park, under the hill Piramida which also became a school symbol.

The school opened its door in the year 1961/62. Pupils from various primary schools in the neighbourhood were directed into it. The school was named »a glass castle« because it had a lot of glass surfaces. Now the school looks slightly different. In the year 2000/2001 the school was really renovated. Many rooms were redecorated since then. We received a new music, art and science classroom, according with a laboratory and a new library. In the year 2007 new sport facilities were built: two sport halls, a dance hall and a room for various activities. We arranged a big playground for volleyball, tennis and an athletic track. Our pupils have great opportunities for quality lessons as well as many other activities.

School headmaster is Mrs. Breda Kutnjak. The school employs 39 teachers and 11 personnel. There are approximately 360 pupils at our school, but the number is increasing each year.

At our school there are some choirs, a drama circle, a debate klub, a chess circle etc. Pupils join in many sport, art, literature and music competitions. They also take care that none of these activities are forgotten by arranging the school radio and the school gazette Piramidnik.

The school is a very important institution and cooperates in numerous regional, state and international projects. In the framework Healthy School (Zdrava šola), we take care of our health. With the project Ecoschool we take special care of the environment that surrounds us. We cooperate with external institutions, especially the Philosophical Faculty in Maribor and Ljubljana.
