Summing up at the end of playing the game
Summing up the game took place at the end of the day, in the Terezian hall of the Břevnov monastery, moreover, we took a lot of pictures and several videos. Children were satisfied with the game and during one lesson of informatics made a list of ratings.
This is just few of them:
- I like this project so much and I would like to do it one more time. What I like very much was, that they dropped us off and we had to go by our opinion. (task: finding the monastery). The talk with prior was interesting as well. There is nothing about this project what I didn´t like…
- I didn’t like the communication, it wasn’t the best I can imagine. That cell phone constantly went wrong. Going there by foot I didn’t like as well and tasks should be a bit easier, but except that I was OK.
- I like that I could spend all the time in front of PC and I could miss school.
- The cooperation was good. The older pupils helped us, when we couldn’t do something with the technical equipment. Teachers also advised us. I liked the whole project and I’m pleased that I have been chosen. And I also like the cooperation with Prior during the whole project.
- What I liked – there wasn’t a particular peer, who I don’t like at all. We were working with computers. It was great fun and we tried something new. What I didn’t like: The equipment didn´t work well (but it got better then), we sat in front of PC all the time.
- We could use simple sms messages rather than complicated connection. I like that we got to know with something new, were as a team, cooperated and worked with technology of 21.century.
- I liked that we won. (Actually, as everybody)
- We got the feedback from Martin the Monk too, which helped us during the day in monastery area.
- I think that the game ended up very well, children behaved politely and it was fun. I spent the whole morning and it was obvious that children handled it superbly. But I think, that the next time will be better, because children will be more familiar with equipment and the communication will be better as well. I like the school magazine, pupils got great ideas. Please, tell my references to all of them, and say tell them to continue at it for 100 per cent. I think that they are doing a great name for your school.
Tomáš' Poem
řed Vámi leží pergamen
se značkou vaší barvy,
kde uspořádána jsou slova gardy
V textu pověst praví
o založení zdejšího kláštera
o tom praví místní pověra.
Přeložte slova, co tam tkví
potom na papíře
mi je jeden předložiti smí.
Jediné co k dispozici máte
je váš kamarád na mobilním drátě.
(of course in Czech language)
- Yes, Blog – game magazine, which Martin the Monk talked about, was idea of organizers and older pupils, who helped us during the whole game. By the way, we got the PowerPoint presentation about the whole game development, from these older pupils as well (created by student – Tomáš). Tomáš has also made up a poem, while he was on one task checkpoint.
Overall, we think, that teachers and pupils concerned really appreciated the game progress, although it was a hard work for the team of realization and some of the tasks were verified during the game process for the first time. In the project EMAPPS.COM, we had to mix up the principles of the games using alternative reality, work with platform developed especially for EMAPPS.COM and mainly with technical equipment, which was used by children (in the particular digital and video cameras, multimedia cell phones, cell phones with WAP connection, where was installed a chat between wanderers and bachelors, digital dictaphones, GPS navigation). That means, every game can be different, it depends on which part of these dimensions we will build the game on.
