A sheet of paper with the instruction of data sending to the centre.
Looking at the sea, a child suddenly notices that a strange ancient bottle is stuck among the stones. He calls other children. Everybody runs up and examines the finding. They are eager to know what is inside the bottle and uncork it. They pull out an old creasy note on a odd shape waterproof paper with the words “Gabijos” school. Besides the title there are several printed numbers and address, very similar to e-mail address.

The children discuss among themselves and decide to enter the strange digits in the GPS device. Maybe their travel adviser will help in this case? The pointer flashes and indicates south direction. The children pick up their stuff and start moving to not knowing where, following the pointer of the palm computer. They appear near the building of Smiltyne information centre.
Challenge 2
- to get know how about the the foundation of the Curonian spit
The task:
- Send 2 photos and records of your talk with answers to the questions given in 1 minute…
- Look for the answers and ask people you meet…; Send us the records and we will decode them to see whether we can rely on them…
- Look for instructions…; Send the answer to the centre, follow the instructions…; If the answer is correct, the palm computer will tell you which direction to go on…
There is nothing else left but to enter the building. Inside they greet the member of staff and introduce themselves. The lady is very surprised:
-The children from Gabijos basic school? Someone is looking for you. Every time I sit at the computer and try to load a website, a message appears with Gabijos school title on it… I thought I am becoming mad… So, if you have a wish you can try to discover who is looking for you…
The lady allows the kids to use her computer. They write the internet address and press ENTER. A strange website appears in front of their eyes, full with different links. Pupils press the central – main – link.
A funny whirlwind appears and they can see a subject similar to a man inside it:
-Don’t be afraid of me. I am Mercury from XXX century. I am chief guard of memory block of the whole mankind. I came here with a time lift and want to ask for help. I need to convey an important message from the future people. Listen to me, and help us please. Our future depends on you now. .. And your future as well…
In the XXX century people live in golden age: there are no wars for land, power or riches. Council of Senior citizens supervises all inhabitants. They are clever and fair. But the main achievement of our citizens is launching the engine of Memory block. The memory of mankind origin and development has been placed there. This engine analyses the way of mankind development and helps to keep peace, understanding, unity and secures successful future of mankind. Several days ago a serious catastrophe occurred. A huge comet, passing the Earth, touched the main panel of memory block. It cracked in one place and part of the information about the past has been lost. If we do not restore the lost information within the next few days, the engine of the memory block will be damaged and a huge catastrophe will stuck our world. Also a black universe hole will absorb the piece of land the information has been lost about. I am speaking about Smiltyne. Thus, I was sent to the past with a capsule to search for information. Reaching your time was not so easy. We can materialize in safe time platforms with the help of computer only. So you are able to see me now. But the amount of time I can remain on Earth is limited and I have to be in a hurry. You, kids, will have to help me collect the lost information about the origin of Juodkrante, the old settlements and local inhabitants. I am not able to leave the time whirlwind and travel in the XXI century. I will have to use the transportable platform and palm computer to collect information from you. These will be the main devices for communication and task fulfilment. The first task will be assigned for you right here, in the centre. After hearing the words “The mission of saving the earth begins…” you will have to press link No.1 and the first task will be given to you. You will need to do the tasks one after another. Upon completing the first task information will reach the memory block automatically and only then you will continue your journey… Good luck my little friends. Do not disappoint us. You are the future of our world. We are starting the “Mission of saving the Earth”...
Challenge 3
- Find the secret advisor and send her photo to the centre
Task (task in an envelope):
Look through the exposition and video material carefully. Find answers to the questions:
- What part of the Curonian spit was formed the first?
- When was Curonian spit covered with forests?
- When and how many villages were covered under sand?
- What villages are there nowadays in Curonian spit ? (make a list)
- What crafts were used by the inhabitants of Curonian spit? (make a list)
Send the answers to the centre by SMS...
!!! Task to the centre:
A crossword prepared for them on the game platform (that teams should fill with answers – a set of 5 crossing words, which will reveal the KEY for the next task when disclosed)

Children fulfil the first task – send photo and audio files, receive a SMS with confirmation and set of numbers – GPS coordinates, password and mystical information about secret advisor…
At the end of the message it is written that Senior Supervisor has left a message in time whirlwind (on the internet).
Children fulfil the first task and send a message. If it has been done correctly, a strange person appears on the screen and announces:
“Good job. The big Whirlwind, that destroys our future Earth surface, has stopped moving. I am sure you are able to save us from the catastrophe… But this was only the beginning and you have to finish the task…
The second task is to find the first house of Nature museum. The priceless video material that allows to fill up the second broken detail of our Memory Block is there. Follow the pointer on GPS device…
Going outside they follow the pointer and find themselves near the building of Nature museum. Only one member of staff is here and she is absolutely indifferent to the huddle of kids.
Hearing the password, the lady suddenly perks and smiles a greeting to children:
Hello, hello! I have been waiting for this word for over 20 years… Where are you from, kids? Do you know that you are the participants of the most secret and wonderful mission? I had been trying to help in my youth… but failed… Have you seen the chief guard?.. Is it still possible to help our Earth? I have been saving this letter for you… And she handles a shabby envelope with a task.
Kids receive a new task (envelope):
Send your answer to the centre by SMS and follow the instructions.
If the answer is correct, the palm computer will tell you which direction to go on…
(Children send SMS answers, while the centre solves the crossword thus trying to help the team).
