The Insurance Company
”Now we‘ve found our way at last. Look this is the same bas-relief over the door.
The Angel of Mercy gives some water to the thirsty …
Copernicus was a clergyman and a medic, so he may have been guided by mercy in his life …
Wait, what nanny : there was also the Insurance Company for the people from the Health Management Organization, so at least the place is O.K.. The Health Management Organization was as well. I remember I’ve read about it somewhere. They built everything from the beginning, both this Insurance Company, and the Health Management Organization and also plenty of other buildings: the Management of the State Forests, the Directorate of State Railways, the Market Hall, the Agricultural Bank and even a round church. Because all these buildings were designed and built by the same architect – Antoni Uniechowski who was an alderman in Toruń. He designed the buildings and Zelek made the decorations, for example the bears and this bas-relief, which is called “fronton” and everything in a style which was in fashion then, called modernism. Let’s get in for a while. How bright it is in here. The staircase is made of glass and colourful stained glass windows. You don’t think of illnesses. They built it nicely, it’s optimistic and solid.
All these buildings are interesting and even similar to each other, these vertical lines like a harmonica, like a lot of tucks and as if a piece of paper was folded, stone origami.
