Mezazile, an NGO was established on April 18, 2000. Funding for establishing a support centre in Stende town was received from the Queen Juliana Foundation (Netherlands) in the same year. Significant projects involving work with inhabitants coming from social risk groups (essential for rural areas of Latvia) were implemented in the following years. The Association operates in the Western part of Latvia.
In 2004, Mezzazile:
Established the first society partnership council in Latvia, where directors of government and self- government institutions and enterprises work together and advise Mezazile on how to work more qualitatively and appropriately in reaching target groups. Reresentatives of the society partnership council operates as multipliers within local society.
- Carried out Analytic evaluation of the organization under the guidance of highly qualified experts and undertook planning of its operation and finances.
- Conducted active cooperation with Talsi district (region located in the North-West part of Latvia) education institutions.
- Established an Information Centre providing consultations, work with IT and other office services and a library.
- Organised interest education for inhabitants of different ages and charity undertakings.
The Association has large-scale and successful experience implementing local and regional projects intended to improve the situation of different groups of society: mostly children and youth coming from rural areas with limited opportunities. It has experience of implementing projects itself as well as being a partner for other organizations.
Mezazile has established cooperation with state and self-government institutions, education institutions and other nongovernmental institutions (dealing with educational issues). The experience of its staff in leading and implementing projects and promotion of cooperation is a significant and essential resource as is the desire of board members, workers and volunteers to learn and improve their qualifications the effectiveness of their work.
