The Pedagogical Matrix
History:
- Museum people wear old clothes, use old working tools etc.
- All museum buildings represent some historical period and have some certain purpose (farms, church, schoolhouse, windmill etc.)
- Students also get imagination about old traditions and culture
Physical education:
- Game is a competition, that means some physical capability from every student
- Distance students have to cover during the game is about 4-5km
- There is also task connected with boat
- Games take place in autumn or in spring - outside temperature is below 10 degrees, there could be also rain and strong wind
Geography:
- Developing orientation skills with the help of maps and GPS
- Direct tasks connected with direction defining (North-South) etc.
Biology:
- Some tasks are directly connected with knowledges about nature (trees, plants)
- Some tasks are connected with domestic animals
- General environmental protection and preservation is also topic of the game
Estonian language and literature:
- Some tasks are connected with estonian language - origin of the words etc.
- After game activities are tightly connected with reading and writing skills as well as actions during the game. However, language inside game chat is far away from that we really want.
Informatics:
- Some imagination about this, how GPS really works (4 sattellites in the space, signal etc.)
- Use of the emapps platform (one of the team members)
- Using Nokia N-70, uploading photos, chat, taking pictures
- Using e-mail
- Getting information from the internet
Arts:
- Game takes place in folk museum, students are directly inside folk-architecture, old furniture, old fashion etc.
- One of the tasks is connected with an old musical instruments
Mathematics:
- Game tasks are connected with math in many ways - measuring, counting etc.
- Using of GPS demand logical thinking and some imagination about system of coordinates
